Creag na h-Iolaire (Scot’s Gaelic for: rock of the eagle, or the eyrie) is perched above steep ground overlooking beautiful Loch Shieldaig. Uninterrupted views take in Loch Torridon to the north-west and the Torridon mountains to the north-east. Closer in are the wildlife-rich, littoral islands and skerries along the loch’s edge, and Shieldaig island, home to a rare family of white-tailed eagles.

The house was designed by award winning architects Dualchas of the Isle of Skye. Taking advantage of the unique site, the larch-clad building cantilevers over forested terrain which falls away steeply to the loch’s edge below. Floor to ceiling triple glazing along the entire length of the open plan living area invite guests to experience the wildness and weather of the Highlands whilst relaxing with complete comfort and warmth within this unique modern dwelling.

The master bedroom offers unparalleled sanctuary with astonishing views through three unique aspects of the room, but with absolute privacy from the outside. Soak in the freestanding bath whilst gazing at the mountains, out to sea, or whatever the weather has turned on for the day. On very dark and clear nights you may even catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

From the external terrace you will observe the plentiful wildlife of the loch and surrounds. Seals, dolphins and the occasional otter cruise the waters below, seabirds of all kinds are abundant, and the majestic white tailed eagles are never far away. Terrestrial wildlife include the inquisitive pine marten, majestic red deer and you may catch sight of a red squirrel if you are lucky.

Whether you are seeking solace or adventure in the mystical Scottish Highlands, Creag na h-Iolaire provides a unique haven for relaxation or recovery regardless of the time of year or season. You will not easily forget your stay here.
